Tech Council Outlines Strategic Focus for the Next Two Years

On 4 June 2025, the Tech Council held its first regular meeting and outlined its strategic priorities for the next two years. In line with the belief that Slovenia has just the right blend of knowledge and agility, combined with our small but connected market, gives us the flexibility to test new ideas and scale what works – and become a strong benchmark in the tech space. With the goal of shaping a stronger digital and innovation ecosystem in Slovenia, the Council set its main four pillars:
- AI’s Expanding Role in Business
Council members highlighted the importance of sharing practical use cases, while also calling attention to the growing regulatory and ethical implications of AI adoption. There was a shared view that a shift in mindset, ongoing education, and responsible implementation are essential to ensure AI becomes a strategic enabler rather than a risk.
- Tech-Driven People Development
As technology advances, so must people. The Council emphasised that digital transformation can only succeed if it is inclusive and human-centred. This means investing in digital upskilling, encouraging digital mentoring, and supporting collaboration between generations, with the goal of bridging the gap between digital natives and more experienced professionals. Technology must be designed around people, not the other way around.
- Slovenia as a Living Lab for Niche Technologies
Slovenia’s size and agility were identified as key advantages for positioning the country as a testbed for emerging technologies. Members stressed the need to support smarter monetisation of innovation, ensure that regulation keeps pace, and engage policymakers early in the process. Slovenia has the talent and ideas, but it needs to turn them into scalable, global solutions.
- Future of Work and Tech Integration
The workplace is being reshaped by automation, AI, and digital innovation. Council members highlighted the need to rethink traditional structures, shifting from rigid hierarchies to more agile, tech-enabled environments. Successful integration will depend on investing in people, strengthening change management, and using technology to support employee engagement and better customer outcomes.
The Council also discussed concrete steps to translate strategy into practice, including regulatory proposals, the use of practical case studies and testimonials, and other future initiatives. The next session is planned for 22 October 2025.
A special thank you goes to Vesna Ložak Polanec and Law Firm Ketler & Partners for hosting us, as well as to Matic Grobelšek (A1 Slovenija) & Gregor Kovačič (Zavarovalnica Triglav) for chairing the meeting.
